The Navy List of March, 1896 lists sixty Naval Cadets admitted on 15 January, 1894. Judging from other Navy Lists from which we knew the scores of entry, these are likely in their order of merit from their entrance examination. It is possible that attrition has occurred by now, and Cecil Vivian Usborne, Harold Brisbane Bedwell, Sebald Walter Bluett Green, William Edmund Middleton, Edward Alexander Dimsdale Masterman, Gerald Langston Parnell passed out as Midshipmen in January, 1896. This means this term was initially at least sixty-five strong on entry.[1]

From September 1903 entries were also made to the Royal Naval College, Osborne under the Selborne Scheme. The Britannia was closed in July 1905 after the May entry, which was sent to Bermuda with the January entry. The following two terms under the old scheme were sent straight to the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
