H.M.S. Scimitar was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending.

Service

She reduced to Reserve Fleet at Devonport on 14 August, 1920.[6]

Paid off to Maintenance Reserve in Rosyth on 6 October, 1927.[7]

She was commissioned at Rosyth on 2 June, 1931[8] and completed to special complement at Chatham on 1 October, 1931.[9]

In June of 1933, her bell was one of about 100 surplus bells announced as being for sale at prices ranging from £1 to £10. Preference would be given to those offers from men with a special consideration in the bell in question.[10]

She was reduced to reserve at The Nore on 9 September, 1936.[11]

Scimitar left Scarborough for Chatham with Scout on 13 August, 1934.[12]

Scimitar arrived at Harwich on 31 October, 1934.[13]
