Robert Arthur Startin

Captain (retired) Robert Arthur Startin, O.B.E., A.M. (7 February, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Captain (later Admiral) James Startin, R.N. passed out of the Training Establishment in mid-September 1911 and had two brief appointments in the battleship London and battleship Implacable before being placed in the battleship Africa of the Third Battle Squadron on 14 May, 1912.

Startin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 28 March, 1916.

Startin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 28 March, 1924.

Startin was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1929.

World War II

Startin was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 7 February, 1944.
