Admiral Percival Henry Hall Thompson, C.B., C.M.G. (5 May, 1874 – 6 July, 1950) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 September, 1894.
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1905.
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1913.
Thompson was appointed to President on 9 January 1912, and in command and on the staff of the Admiral Commanding Reserves on 19 January. This appointment ran until he was superseded on 1 May, 1914 when he was appointed as a Naval Adviser to New Zealand and in command of the third class protected cruiser Philomel.
Great War
Thompson paid off Philomel on 9 April, 1917 and continued his work as a Naval Adviser until he was superseded on 20 May, 1919.
Post-War
Thompson was appointed in command of the battleship Erin on 1 December, 1919.[1]
Thompson was appointed in command of the battleship Royal Oak in January, 1921.
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 October, 1923.
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 7 April, 1928.
Thompson was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 13 October, 1932. He was placed on the Retired List to facilitate the promotion of younger officers on 1 November, 1932 and was issued a letter of appreciation.
