Captain (retired) Charles Gwillim Robinson (8 April, 1881 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of gentleman Nicholas Robinson was born in English Frankton, Ellesmere.

In 1900, he was noted by Hannibal's Captain Walker as being "athletic, but very dense."[1]

Robinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1903.[2]

Robinson was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1911.[3]

Robinson was appointed to the scout cruiser Pathfinder as first and gunnery officer on 23 September, 1913. He was fortunate to survive her torpedoing and loss in the North Sea on 5 September, 1914.[4]

Robinson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1915.[5]

Robinson commanded the seaplane carrier Engadine at the Battle of Jutland.[6]

Robinson was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 7 April, 1920 and promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 8 April, 1926.[7]
