Admiral SIR Arthur John Davies, K.B.E., C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (26 September, 1877 – 13 December, 1954) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Davies was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 15 January, 1899.[1]

Davies was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1909.[2]

He served as gunnery officer in Tiger from 16 December, 1914 before being superseded on 5 January, 1916, as he had been promoted to Captain 31 December, 1915.[3]

In May 1917, he was appointed in command of the light cruiser Cassandra.[4]

He was appointed in command of Lion in May, 1918.[5]

Davies was appointed in command of King George V on 18 March, 1919.[6]

On 20 September, 1920, he was appointed Naval Assistant to the Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel.[7]

Davies was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to the King on 8 July, 1926,[8] On 25 October he was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral, vice Kelly.[9]
