Captain (retired) Stewart Arnold Pears, C.B.E., R.N. (24 February, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Stewart D. Pears, [illeg] of India.

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 April, 1916.[1]

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 April, 1924.[2]

In May 1925, Pears was appointed to the light cruiser Curlew as gunnery officer. One year later, he was invalided home in S.S. Orbita, suffering from a disease of the nervous system, which would necessitate his right leg being amputated at the lower third of his thigh. He was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 23 September, 1926.[3]

Pears was promoted to the rank of Commander on 24 February, 1934.[4]

World War II

Pears was promoted to the rank of Captain on 18 March, 1947. He would receive a series of appointments in inspection of naval ordnance, his last appointment ceasing on 2 March 1956.[5]
