Commander (retired) John de Clare Richards, (22 October, 1896 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Charles de Clare Richards, the director of a public company.

Richards was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1918.

Richards was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1926.

In 1928, he was Court Martialled for having negligently or by default hazarded H.M.S. Splendid. He was severely reprimanded after the charge was proved.

Richards was promoted to the rank of Commander on 22 January, 1940.

He was suffering from anxiety neurosis in 1944.
