H.M.S. Nelson was one of two Nelson Class dreadnoughts completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

After completing trials under Captain The Hon. Matthew R. Best, the new battleship paid off on 9 June[7] before being commissioned at Portsmouth on 15 August, 1927 under the command of Captain Sidney Julius Meyrick.[8]

Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 1 January, 1930.[9]
