H.M.S. Exeter was one of two York Class cruisers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

She was paid off into Dockyard Control at Devonport on 30 May 1931.[7]

Commissioned at Plymouth on 21 July, 1931 for service with the Second Cruiser Squadron with the Home Fleet.[8]

Re-commissioned at Plymouth on 10 October, 1933.[9]

Re-commissioned at Plymouth on 29 December [year omitted] for service with the America and West Indies Station, under the command of Commodore, Second Class Henry Harwood Harwood who was also in command of the South American Division.[10]
