Rear-Admiral Frederick Arthur Buckley, C.B., Royal Navy (4 September, 1887 – 31 May, 1952) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Southport, Lancs, the son of J. W. Buckley, Esq..

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 July, 1908.[1]

He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1916. In late 1916, he was helping the Italians improve the gunnery of their battleships.[2]

Buckley served as Gunnery Officer of Venerable off the Belgian Coast and Dardanelles through December 1916. After some time at Excellent, he served as gunnery officer in Superb from 21 February through 15 September 1917 and then in Emperor of India. He would remain in her through 21 August, 1920, being promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1920.[3]

On 21 August, 1920, he was appointed to Excellent to conduct rangefinder trials.[4]

He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1927.[5]

He assisted in dealing with disturbances in Cyprus in 1933. In 1936, he had to undergo multiple tooth extractions.

Buckley was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 January, 1939.[6]
