Feilman was the first captain in the {{UK-K14|f=t}}, being appointed in February 1917 and leaving her in mid-June 1917 for an appointment with a Hydrophone Flotilla, possibly operating from Portsmouth.  On 16 July, 1917, Feilmann used improper language with a policeman.  In August, it was decided to relieve him of his present appointment with the Hydrophone Flotilla.

Commander Ferdinand Eric Bertram Feilmann (19 August, 1883 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

In March 1916, Feilmann prevailed upon the service that he wanted his last name to be recorded as "Feilman".[1]

Life & Career

Born in Calcutta, the son of merchant F. Feilmann.

Feilmann was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1905.

He fenced with the British Olympic Team in the 1912 Olympics, but did not medal.

Feilmann was appointed in command of the submarine C 16 on 14 December, 1912.[2]

Feilmann was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1913.

He was appointed in command of the submarine C 32 on 16 November, 1914.[3]

On 24 March, 1914, he was appointed in command of the submarine E 7.[4]

Feilman was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1916.

Feilman was the first captain in the submarine K 14, being appointed in February 1917 and leaving her in mid-June 1917 for an appointment with a Hydrophone Flotilla, possibly operating from Portsmouth. On 16 July, 1917, Feilmann used improper language with a policeman. In August, it was decided to relieve him of his present appointment with the Hydrophone Flotilla.

In December 1919, he was nominated to be Naval Representative to the Royal Tournament Fencing Committee.

Suffering from gastritis, Feilman was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit on 1 April, 1920.
