H.M.S. Walker was one of twenty-one "W" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.
Service
Walker joined the Eleventh Destroyer Flotilla in February, 1918[7] and sometime that year, Tormentor collided with her; Tormentor's Lieutenant-Commander Percy John Helyar was told to be more careful in future.
Walker remained with 11 D.F. until it was disbanded in March, 1919, at which point she was allocated along with the Eleventh's other "V"s and "W"s to the newly-fashioned First Destroyer Flotilla.[8]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 9 December, 1920.[9]
Walker was re-commissioned at Devonport on 3 May, 1923. By March 1925, she was working with the First Destroyer Flotilla as part of the Atlantic Fleet.[10]
She re-commissioned under the command of Ralph Berthon Gossage at Devonport on 18 January, 1927 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[11]
Walker was re-commissioned at Devonport on 4 September, 1928 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[12]
She was re-commissioned at Devonport on 11 November, 1930 for continuing service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet.[13]
She commissioned at the Nore on 15 July, 1932 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla, which was now part of Home Fleet,[14] re-commissioning on 11 January, 1933.[15]
Reduced to Reserve at Devonport on 3 September, 1934.[16]
