H.M. T.B. 37 (1886) | |
---|---|
Builder: | J. Samuel White[1] |
Ordered: | April 1885[2] |
Launched: | 1886[3] |
Completed: | March 1887[4] |
Sold: | 27 November, 1919[5] |
H.M. T.B. 37 was one of 53 first-class torpedo boats of the 125 Footer class.
Around 1906-1907, with the issuance of torpedo boat numbers to the first of the Cricket class torpedo boats, the existing Torpedo Boats numbered 25 to 79 had a "0" prepended to their number. This vessel, therefore, became T.B. 037.[6]
Service
In 1895, she was one of six first-class T.B.s stationed at Hong Kong.[7]
In July, 1904, complaints from Vice-Admiral Noel of the China Station about the condition of his torpedo boats and destroyers prompted a review of his assets by First Lord of the Admiralty Selborne. Within, it was noted that T.B.s 35-38 had never been re-boilered, but that they should remain functional until new boilers from J. & S. White were available.[8]
By 1914 T.B. 037 was assigned to the Hong Kong Defence Flotilla.[9]
T.Bs. 035, 036, 037 and 038 would served throughout the Great War on the China Station.
She was sold at Hong Kong on 27 November, 1919.[10]
