William Stokes Rees

Admiral William Stokes Rees, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (20 January, 1853 – 20 July, 1929) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Rees was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 28 October, 1877.[1]

He was appointed to the Undaunted on 18 February, 1890.[2]

Rees was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1891.[3]

Captain

For his services in Benin, Rees was specially promoted to the rank of Captain on 25 May, 1897.[4]

Retirement

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 22 June, 1909.[5] On 19 May, 1912, he was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List.[6] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 24 October, 1915.[7]
