William Blewett Fawckner

Vice-Admiral (retired) William Blewett Fawckner (22 February, 1857 – 4 June, 1944) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1882.

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1895.

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Captain on 24 March, 1900.

Fawckner was appointed to command the armoured cruiser Cressy in April 1906.

He was appointed to command the battleship Venerable on 12 August, 1907.

Fawkner was placed on the Retired List on 27 February, 1912 and promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 19 December, 1912.

In January, 1914, he was appointed Nautical Assessor Class III to investigate shipping casualties, for three years.

Fawkner was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 23 October, 1917.

Fawkner died of a cerebral hemorrhage on 4 June, 1944.
