Lieutenant-Commander (retired) William Alexander Rhind M.B.E. (6 March, 1872 – 15 December, 1941) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Rhind was promoted to the rank of Gunner on 1 October, 1898.[1]

Rhind was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 034 on 21 (or 29) September, 1912. He commanded the boat until October 1915, being promoted to the rank of Chief Gunner on 1 October, 1913.[2][3]

On 4 October, 1915 he was appointed to the monitor Marshal Soult. When she paid off in 1916, he joined the corvette Satellite, where he remained until being appointed to Repulse on 11 October, 1917.[4]

After the war, Rhind commanded Template:UK-ML339 from 22 September 1919 through 7 March 1922, being again promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 7 April, 1921. After some time at H.M.S. Excellent, he retired due to age on 12 August, 1922. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on the Retired List on 7 April, 1929.[5]
