Donald Mansfield

Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. (retired) Donald Mansfield (10 March, 1880 – ) was an officer in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Mansfield was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 27 July, 1915.

In 1916, Mansfield's T.B. 034 collided with T.B. 057, resulting in a caution being issued to the captains of both vessels.

Mansfield was appointed in command of the destroyer Kangaroo on 1 January, 1917. Mansfield was granted the acting rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1917. A post-war evaluation by Captain (D), Sixth Destroyer Flotilla Wilfred Tomkinson noted that Mansfield was a "V.G. comdng offr of destroyer, could be always depended on in any circumstances or in any weather. a fine personality & good leader."

In 1920, it was decided that he would be permitted to retain the rank of Lt. Cdr..
