Service
Stockton was commissioned on 26 November, 1917 with Lieutenant Commander Harry Alexander Baldridge in command. She went to Queenstown, Ireland to assist in antisubmarine work. On 30 March, 1918, she and the destroyer Ericsson engaged a U-boat in a gun and depth charge assault which almost saw Stockton torpedoed. Later that night, the destroyer collided with a steamer which sank as a result and sent Stockton to the repair yards.
In World War II, she fought with the Royal Navy as H.M.S. Ludlow.
