Captain Robert Ross Stewart, (25 October, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of a member of the London Stock Exchange.

Stewart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1915.

Stewart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1923.

Stewart was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1928.

Stewart was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1935.

World War II

Placed on the Retired List on 2 January, 1945.

A stint in command of H.M.S. Royal Sovereign from May to August 1943 which Robert Mackie records was apparently cancelled, according to Stewart's service record.
