Revision as of 20:12, 2 August 2021

Commander (retired) Humphry Collis Woolrych, (22 August, 1893 – ) served in the Royal Navy. The National Archives had his first name as "Humphrey", but I see the more unusual spelling actually written in his Service Records and the Navy List.

Life & Career

The son of Major H. Woolrych of the Indian Army.

Woolrych was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1915.

Woolrych was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1923.

Woolrych was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 12 October, 1936 and took up work as the Passive Defence Officer at Chatham.

World War II

Commanded Edinburgh Castle and another illegible vessel.
