Commander Hugh James Orr, R.N., Retired (21 January, 1878 – 19 April, 1946) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Orr was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 November, 1899.

In June 1906, Captain Tudor wrote that as gunnery officer in Challenger, Orr had been "[z]ealous as regards shooting, but unmethodical in his gunnery duties."

Orr was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 November, 1907.

Retired at his own request on 13 May 1912.

Orr was promoted to the rank of Commander (retired) on 21 January, 1918.

World War II

Reverted to the Retired List on 29 July 1944.
