H.M.S. Sapphire was one of four third class cruisers of the "Gem" class completed in 1904 and 1905.

Service

In 1910, Sapphire was leading the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla.

Re-commissioned at Devonport 2 October, 1911.[8]

In early 1913, Sapphire was with the Seventh Destroyer Flotilla, but was ordered to transfer to Second Fleet from 1 July 1913, being replaced by Skirmisher after Manœuvres.[9]

She paid off at Sheerness on 30 April, 1919.[10]
