Career

Russell was launched at Jarrow-on-Tyne on 19 February, 1901, by Mrs. McLaren, wife of Charles McLaren, chairman of the Palmer Shipbuilding and Iron Company.[1]

Russell commissioned at Chatham on 19 February, 1903, under Captain Alfred L. Winsloe, to relieve the Canopus in the Mediterranean.[2]
