One of her seaplanes under the command of Frederick Rutland sortied to scout the enemy disposition early in the battle, but actual benefits from this foray were thwarted by the sort of difficulties that typically mooted such early aviation efforts. After the battle, she undertook a tow of the wallowing armoured cruiser Warrior, but the sieved cruiser foundered before harbour could be made.
