H.M.S. Comet was one of 24 gunboats of the Ant class.

Service

Comet and Blazer were put through trials over a measured mile in Stokes Bay off Portsmouth on 14-15 March, 1871 under the command of Captain E. B. Rice, achieving mean speeds of 8.741 and 8.734 knots, respectively.[4]
