Vice-Admiral (retired) George Lawrence Massey, R.N. (3 November, 1879 – 3 November, 1937) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of the Hon. George Massey, R.N.R. was born in Liverpool.

Massey was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 July, 1900.

On 7 March 1910, admitted Chatham Hospital with facial wounds.

Massey was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1913.

Massey was appointed Assistant Director of Paravanes from February, 1918 through 30 June, 1919.

Post-War

Massey was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1919.

In July 1924, Massey was blamed for a lack of supervision after two men aboard Heather committed an "unnatural act".

On 5 January, 1927, Massey reverted to the Royal Navy, but he was was lent to the Royal Australian Navy on 21 August.

Massey was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 5 April, 1931 and was placed on the Retired List the next day.

Massey was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 1 January, 1936.
