Commander (retired) Francis William Roberts, R.N. (4 March, 1873 – 20 October, 1918) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Roberts entered naval service at the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1898.

He received a little instruction in torpedoes and served in Rodney, Mars, Template:UK-Brialliant, Kent and Dominion until July 1907.

He retired at his own request on 4 March 1913 at the rank of Commander.

During the Great war, he served in a variety of staff functions before being attached to the Nesmar II, a hired net drifter/stores and water carrier and minesweeper. He died four days after being operated on by a civil surgeon at a hospital whose location is not legible.
