Commander R.N.R. (retired) Francis Waugh Hodges, R.D. (7 May, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.

Life & Career

Captain (D) Eighth Destroyer Flotilla requested that Hodges be removed from command of T.B. 33 for lacking initiative and "go" and for being "too phlegmatic". It was noted that he "has not been able to keep discipline in his ship." He was briefly appointed to Mersey for navigation duties before being lent in command of Ure by the Commander in Chief on 6 August 1917.[1]

Several evaluators saw him as undesirable as a commander of torpedo craft, calling him "tactless" and lacking in initiative.[2]

Demobilised on 25 April, 1919.[3]

Hodges was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 2 July, 1921.[4]
