Captain (retired) Ernest Hamblin Bannister Williams, R.N. (14 October, 1882 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy. For some time, his one name was given as "Hamlyn", but this was explicitly corrected in ADM 196/48.[1]

Life & Career

Born in Woolston, the son of Richard Williams, who was in the R.N. at a rank I cannot read.[2]

Williams was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 April, 1905.[3]

Williams was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1917.[4]

Williams was appointed in command of the destroyer Orwell on 4 January, 1912.[5]

On 29 December, 1913, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Vixen.[6]

On 8 September, 1914, Williams was appointed in command of the destroyer Minos.[7]

On 22 May, 1917, he was appointed in command of the destroyer Truculent.[8]

William was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 31 October, 1922 and was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 14 October, 1927.[9]
