Vice-Admiral SIR Edmund Radcliffe Pears, K.B.E., C.B., Royal Navy (25 April, 1862 – 21 June, 1941) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

For his services in Benin, Pears was specially promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 May, 1897.[1]

Pears was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1903.[2]

On 21 December, 1911, Pears was appointed Inspecting Captain of Boys' Training Ships.[3] On 5 April, 1913, he was appointed to Impregnable as Commodore, Second Class "in Charge of Boys' Training Service."[4] In the naval manœuvres of that year, he was given command of the Tenth Cruiser Squadron.[5]

Pears was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 10 February, 1914, vice Bradford.[6]

Great War

Pears was appointed to fly his flag at Invergordon on 13 August, 1914.[7]

He was appointed a Companion of the Civil Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 1 January, 1917.[8]

He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 9 January, 1919, vice Troubridge.[9] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 3 March, 1924.[10]
