Captain R.N.R. (retired) Charles Thomas Keigwin, R.D. (5 July, 1876 – 21 October, 1951) served in the Royal Naval Reserve, commanding a series of armed yachts in the Auxiliary Patrol.
Life & Career
Keigwin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 19 October, 1907.[1]
Keigwin was appointed in command of the armed yacht Greta on 29 March, 1915. Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 19 October, 1915, he stayed in Greta until 1 February, 1917, receiving an adverse report in connection with the loss of small arms from the vessel in early 1917.[2]
He was appointed in command of the armed yacht Hecate from January 1918, but this was cancelled on 22 January in favour of command of the armed yacht Iolaire, which he captained until 4 April, 1918.[3]
He was appointed in command of the armed yacht Salvator from 4 April, 1918 to 28 April, 1919.[4]
Keigwin was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June, 1920.[5]
Keigwin was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 14 January, 1926.[6]
In 1948, he provided information on his suitability for further service in a shaky hand, indicated a guarded sense of his fitness for home shore service only.[7]
