Captain (retired) Basil Rupert Willett, C.B.E., D.S.C., (23 July, 1896 – ) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

On 27 June 1917 he was appointed in command of Template:UK-CMB9. On 3 September 1918, he was appointed in command of Template:UK-CMB100M.

Willett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1917.

On 14 April, 1919, he left command of his C.M.B. and was sent to Portsmouth.

He qualified for signals in March, 1922.

Willett was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1925.

On 16 May 1927, he was appointed to Iron Duke as Flag Lieutenant-Commander to R/A Hall-Thompson, and as squadron signals and wireless officer.

He would come to specialise in aircraft radios.

Willett was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1931.

In January, 1935, he was lent to the New Zealand Division.

World War II

Willett was granted the acting rank of Captain on 23 October, 1939.

Willett was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Captain on 8 October, 1945. In 1948, he proceeded to South America to work with Marconi's Wireless Telegraph Company.
