Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Aubrey Charles Bertie (22 January, 1882 – 14 January, 1944) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Bertie was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on the Supplementary List on 1 September, 1913. In late 1913, Lt. Cdr. Carter of Christopher reported that Bertie was willing and hardworking, but unsuited to work in destroyers owing to a lack of experience. He presently was snet to the light cruiser Birmingham.
On 31 December 1914, he was appointed to Harrier for work in the Downs Boarding Flotilla. On 5 March 1915, he moved to the books of Ceto, depot ship at Ramsgate, to continue his work with the Boarding Flotilla.
Bertie was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 6 August, 1920 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 September, 1921.
World War II
Appointed to R.N.B., Chatham on 23 August, 1939, Bertie received an unfavourable report and his appointment was terminated on 30 November, 1939. He reverted to the Retired List.
