Arthur Luard Pears

Commander Arthur Luard Pears, D.S.C. (8 September, 1894 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Pears's mother was a civil engineer.

On 6 May 1913, lent to the Royal Australian Navy.

In January, 1916, he requested service in submarines.

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1916.

On 9 July, 1919 he apparently took H 29 out of Copenhagen Harbour in a manner the Admiralty deemed "careless". Commander Horton noted that Pears's nerves seemed bad, and that he had made recent mistakes.

Pears was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1924.

Pears was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 21 September, 1935.

World War II

Taken prisoner at the fall of Hong Kong.
