Service
Commander Francis Heathcote Gordon Walker was appointed to Effingham as she was nearing completion, to assume command upon her commissioning,[9] which occurred at Portsmouth on 2 July, 1925.[10]
Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 18 October, 1927 for service with the Fourth Cruiser Squadron as flagship to Commander-in-Chief, East Indies Bertram Thesiger.[11]
Re-commissioned at Portsmouth 1 April, 1930.[12]
Effingham was re-commissioned in Reserve at Portsmouth 30 September, 1932.[13]
Transferred to Dockyard Control at Devonport on 5 October, 1934.[14]
