H.M.S. Cossack was one of twelve destroyers of the "Tribal" class.
Guns
By 1912-13, her five 12-pdr P. I mountings bore register numbers 169, 170, 200, 201 and 202 and were fitted with "Training Gear".[7]
Radio
In 1909, she became one of forty-three destroyers so far fitted with Destroyer Sets.[8]
Service
In mid-1913, she was serving in the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.[9]
On 20 April, 1916, Commander Percy John Helyar was reprimanded after a Court Martial for stranding Cossack. It was not before leaving command in February, 1917 that Helyar received an evaluation that read, "now considered an able & reliable offr. & accident mentioned due to tempry aberation."
