Rear-Admiral Hugh Skinner Shipway, Royal Navy (14 March, 1880 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Shipway was born in Middlesex, the son of Lieutenant-Colonel Shipway.

Shipway was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 26 June, 1902.<ref>Shipway Service Record. The National Archives. {{#if:|ADM 196/45.|196/45.| |+}} ADM 196/45.}} f. 218.</ref>

Shipway married Mabel Young Niblett on 6 April, 1910 at St. Gabriel's in Cricklewood and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 26 June.<ref>Shipway Service Record. The National Archives. {{#if:|ADM 196/45.|196/45.| |+}} ADM 196/45.}} f. 218.</ref>

World War II

Shipway was recalled to service in September, 1939 as Naval Assistant to the "D. of S. T.", remaining there until 31 October, 1942. A period of inactivity followed before he was appointed in April, 1943 to a post in London whose particulars are even harder to discern. This lasted only until 20 June.<ref>Shipway Service Record.
