Commander Andrew Wilmot-Smith, D.S.O., R.N. (21 May, 1885 – 26 July, 1937) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Boroughbridge, Yorkshire.

Wilmot-Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 September, 1906.

Wilmot-Smith was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 September, 1914.

Wilmot-Smith gave up command of E 17 when he was appointed to Maidstone, additional, for "Special Service" on 27 August, 1915. He was to be accomodated in Baralong. He was awarded a D.S.O. for destroying U 41 on 24 September 1915 in what was later called the Second Baralong Incident.

Post-War

Wilmot-Smith was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1920.
