Admiral SIR George Lambart Atkinson-Willes, K.C.B., Royal Navy (13 July, 1847 – 25 December, 1921) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Atkinson was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1886.[1]
He was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to Queen Victoria dated 13 January, 1899, vice Rolfe.[2]
He was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 19 February, 1901, vice Harris.[3] On 7 May, 1902, he succeeded Rear-Admiral Sir Baldwin Wake Walker as Second-in-Command of the Home Squadron.[4] He hoisted his flag in the battleship Resolution in dock at Devonport on 7 May, and at sunset his flag was struck and he went on leave.[5]
He was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 24 May, 1905, vice Noel.[6] On the occasion of the King's birthday, Bosanquet was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 30 June.[7]
Atkinson-Willes was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 5 November, 1908, vice Rawson.[8]
