H.M.S. A 5 was one of thirteen "A" class coastal submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In April, 1911, A 5 was one of the four "A" class and one "D" class boats comprising the Portsmouth Submarine Flotilla.[5]

A 5 paid off on 23 December, 1915.[6] She likely went out of service from that date.
