Commodore, Second Class R.N.R. SIR Roy Gill, K.B.E., R.D., R.N.R., Retired (19 February, 1887 – 13 October, 1967) served in the Royal Naval Reserve.
Life & Career
Roy Gill was born to British parents in Philadelphia. He joined the Royal Naval Reserve in 1905.
Gill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant R.N.R. on 28 March, 1915, with a seniority of 10 February, 1915.
Gill was appointed in command of the Q-ship Lothbury from 15 July, 1918 until 26 January, 1919.
Gill was demobilised upon being found fit on 4 January, 1920.
Gill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander R.N.R. on 21 February, 1923, with a seniority of 10 February, 1923.
Gill was promoted to the rank of Commander R.N.R. on 30 June 1930.
Gill was promoted to the rank of Captain R.N.R. on 31 December, 1935.
World War II
Gill was placed on the Retired List on 19 February, 1943.
