Lieutenant Hubert Osmond Wauton, R.N. (20 June, 1885 – 28 October, 1914) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Wisbech, the son of Reverend A. S. Wauton.
Wauton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1907.
Wauton was appointed in command of the destroyer Falcon on 29 October, 1912.[1]
Wauton was appointed in command of the "C" Class destroyer Falcon on 29 October, 1912. On 28 October, 1914, she and Syren were on an anti-submarine patrol off the Belgian coast when they were taken under fire by German shore batteries. Falcon was hit, and Wauton died along with seven other crew.
