Admiral SIR William Houston Stewart, G.C.B., R.N. (7 September, 1822 – 13 November, 1901) served in the Royal Navy in the nineteenth century.
Life & Career
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 29 June, 1842.
In 1845, Stewart was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Silver Medal for saving life from drowning.[1]
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Commander on 17 May, 1848.
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Captain on 9 July, 1854.
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 April, 1870.
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 12 November, 1876.
Stewart was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 23 November, 1881.
