Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. William Boydon Chilton, D.S.C.** (11 January, 1892 – ) served in the Royal Naval Reserve. One Service Record, at least, has his middle name as "Brydon".

Life & Career

Chilton served in the armed boarding steamer Perth as first Lieutenant from October, 1915. He would still be with her as late as October 1918.[1]

After some time as an Temporary Acting Lt., Chilton was promoted to the rank of Temporary Lieutenant R.N.R. on 31 August, 1917.[2]

He would earn his D.S.C. (or one of the two bars to the award he merited) in action against enemy submarines in command of H.M.S. Hollyhock. He earned his second bar for distinguished services in command of seaplane carriers in the Caspian Sea in 1919.[3]

Chilton was demobilised upon his arrival in Shanghai on 29 September, 1919.[4]
