Captain (retired) Walter John Tite Saunders, D.S.O. (15 January, 1862 – ) served in the Royal Navy and the Royal Naval Reserve. He would be spoken of in glowing terms in his Service Record.

Life & Career

After serving in the R.N.R., Saunders entered the Royal Navy at the rank of Lieutenant on 31 October, 1895.[1]

Passed for navigator in first class ships with a 2nd class certificate on 21 October 1902.[2]

Saunders was placed on the Retired List at the rank of Commander on 29 March, 1906 but dated 1 April.

In September 1914, he was appointed in command of the yacht Rhouma. In May 1915 he moved to command the yacht Lorna. On 17 December 1915 he was appoonted in charge of an armed Drifter Flotilla, where he remained until March, 1919.[3]
