U.S.S. Wasp was an armed yacht purchased by the U.S. Navy in 1898 for service in the Spanish-American War.

Construction

Wasp began her life as the Columbia, built by William Cramp & Sons of Philadelphia for J. Harvey Ladew. Columbia was launched from Cramp's Philadelphia yard on 23 August, 1893.[8]
