The rank of Staff Captain was a commissioned rank in the Military Branch of the Royal Navy. It was established by Order in Council of 11 June, 1863, and was equivalent to the late rank of Master of the Fleet. It ranked after Captains and above Commanders.[1] The last Staff Captain on the active list was John D. Moulton, who retired with the rank of Captain on 30 August, 1913.[2]
