Captain (retired) Samuel Montagu Agnew, O.B.E., R.N. (22 February, 1867 – 22 April, 1929) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Essex Lodge, Norwood, the son of Captain J. Agnew, R.N..
Agnew was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October, 1890.
Agnew was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 2 January, 1911.
Agnew was appointed to Pembroke Barracks on 1 August 1914. He suffered some stomach ailments during the war but stayed at his appointment, earning an O.B.E. in June, 1918.
Agnew reverted to the Retired List on 16 September, 1919 and on 7 October was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired), dated 11 November, 1918.
