Oswald William Ormsby

Commander Oswald William Ormsby, R.N. (11 November, 1876 – 21 November, 1913) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend G. A. Ormsby was born in Rainton, Durham.[1]

Ormsby was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in September, 1897.[2]

Ormsby commanded T.B. 87 and the Loch Ryan T.B. Flotilla in the Annual Manoeuvres of 1903.[3]

Ormsby was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1908.[4]

Ormsby was appointed to Berwick of the Fourth Cruiser Squadron as executive officer on 16 May, 1911. He was still serving in this appointment when he died after an operation for a duodenal ulcer in Kingston Hospital, Jamaica.[5]
